Friends, Family Say Good-bye to Robert Goulet

Debbie Reynolds cherished the time they spent telling stories. "It was such a surprise. It was so unexpected."

Comedian David Brenner says he owes his career to Goulet. After an appearance on the tonight show Brenner says Goulet asked him to open at his concerts and promoted him to the right people in showbiz. Brenner also remembers Goulet for his humor more than his voice.

"He always hit me in the stomach. He'd slap me in the stomach and it would hurt. He was a strong guy," said Brenner.

Tony Curtis knew what he'd miss most about his late friend. "His presence. His sense of who he was and what he was." Curtis says Goulet was as talented an actor as he was a singer.

Goulet won Emmys, Grammys, and Tonys. Robert Goulet would have been 74 on Nov.

Village manor hosts celebrity wedding

ENGLAND cricket players were among a host of celebrities gathered at a country manor in north Wiltshire for the wedding of star batsman Kevin Pietersen and his pop singer bride.

Hampshire player Pietersen and Jessica Taylor, who topped the charts with her former band Liberty X, invited 60 guests to the afternoon event at the idyllic Manor House Hotel, in Castle Combe.

Best man Darren Gough and some of Taylor's former band-mates arrived at the venue at lunchtime, an official at the site said.

After the ceremony, which was understood to be due to begin at 3pm, an extra 25 guests were due to join the party for a reception in the grounds. They were all due to stay overnight.

The 14th century home, which is situated a stone's throw from Castle Combe racing circuit, has 32 rooms which had all been booked up by the couple.

The 'green gold' of Mexico

What we grow here is corn, but corn doesn't pay the bills. The government says it supports us, but what they give is laughable," said Mendoza, now back home in Mexico and general manager of a sprawling, 500-acre avocado plantation. "With the avocado, it is different. Those who work at that have something left for their families."

This rugged section of western Michoacan is Avocado Country, bustling with roadside stands selling bushels of the fruit. On a side street in Uruapan, someone has painted a mural of pre-Columbian figures brandishing avocado halves like shields.

After a bruising fight as part of the NAFTA debate, the U.S. has gradually let avocados enter its market. U.S. officials said Mexican avocados presented health risks, forcing Mexico to implement a system of preventing disease caused by fruit flies and other pests.

Beatles-themed hotel opens doors

The four-star Hard Day's Night hotel on North John Street, a stone's throw from the famous Cavern club, has 110 rooms and two luxury penthouses.

It is decorated with previously unseen Fab Four photos and original artwork from acclaimed Beatles' artist Shannon.

The hotel also has a wedding chapel and civil wedding licence, so couples can tie the knot in front of pictures of the Beatles and their partners.

It already has bookings for six weddings.

Hotel manager Mike Dewey said: "It has been a long time coming. We first talked about it 11 years ago and now we open our doors to customers for the first time.

Huckabee: This is Not a Two Man GOP Race

I want to be make it very clear: a vote for me is a vote for me. A vote for Romney is a vote for Romney. A vote for McCain is a vote for McCain. Anybody who suggests otherwise is trying to put a spin on it.

Continuing, Huckabee questioned Romneys quest to claim the conservative mantle: If people are looking for a true conservative, somebody who hasnt had a recent change of opinion to become one, I would be the logical choice -in fact the only choice they have.

Although he would have loved to have Arnold Schwarzeneggers endorsement, Huckabee seemed to undermine it by challenging the California governors conservative credentials, and implicitly, McCains.

I would never have expected the governor of California to endorse me and, frankly, Im probably a lot more conservative on a lot more issues than he would have been comfortable with whether its the second amendment, or pro-life issue, or marriage amendment issue or any number of things.
